Begin breed
Kies campings, hutten, vrijheidsgebieden, accommodatie of een andere relevante categorie en positioneer vervolgens de kaart rond de rijroute.
Gebruik het zichtbare gebied om opties in de buurt te vergelijken. Een bekende plek buiten de route kost mogelijk meer tijd en brandstof dan dat het oplevert.
Voeg essentiële voorwaarden toe
Selecteer alleen toiletten, water, stroom, prijs, honden of voertuigtoegang waar nodig. Ontbrekende gegevens betekent onbekendheid, geen bewijs dat een kenmerk afwezig is.
Open verschillende resultaten en lees de brondetails. Een filter kan de lijst beperken, maar kan de sluiting van vandaag of de beschikbaarheid van boekingen niet bevestigen.
Houd een back-up zichtbaar
Bewaar de voorkeursplaats en minstens één legaal alternatief voordat u de receptie verlaat. Vermijd een filterset die zo streng is dat er een verstandige optie voor nat weer of late aankomst verborgen blijft.
Reset filters tussen regio's. De eisen voor een huttenwandeling, een aangedreven wasavond en een vrijheidsruimte zijn niet hetzelfde.

A freedom camping search is a legal question rather than a comfort one. What matters is whether the site is designated, whether it requires a certified self-contained vehicle, and what the stay limit is. Facilities are secondary because there frequently are none.
Check the certification requirement against your own warrant before you rely on a site. The requirement attaches to the vehicle, and enforcement is against the vehicle, so a mismatch is expensive regardless of how careful you were about everything else.
Search for services, not just places to sleep
Dump stations, potable water, rubbish disposal and fuel are trip-critical in their own right, and they are worth filtering for as a separate task rather than hoping they appear near tonight's camp. Planning a dump stop on the way somewhere is much easier than making a special trip once a tank is full.
The same applies to a laundry and a hot shower after a wet stretch. Choosing a stop because it solves three jobs at once is usually better value than choosing the cheapest pin and driving back for each of them.
Always keep a backup visible
Save the preferred place and at least one legal alternative before you leave reception. A filter set tight enough to return exactly one result has removed your fallback, and full campgrounds on a summer evening are normal rather than unlucky.
The backup does not need to be as good. It needs to be legal, reachable in daylight and open. That is a much easier standard to meet, and it is what stops a tired driver making a poor decision after dark.
Reset filters between regions and trip types
The requirements for a hut walk, a powered laundry night in town and a certified freedom camping stop share almost nothing. Filters left on from yesterday are a common reason a search looks unexpectedly empty today.
Clear the set whenever the trip changes character, particularly when you cross from the North Island to the South, from coast to alpine country, or from a touring stretch into a few days based in one town.
